A common trolling tactic in which someone pretends to be cluelessly ‘just
asking’, demanding evidence at a most basic level (eg ‘but gender roles
hurt men too! You can’t prove the pay gap exists!’), in order to waste
time, derail conversations on social justice issues (or, increasing,
scientific conversations online), and make the original speaker look
hysterical to the actually clueless.
