[personal profile] kayloulee's snapdragons flowering like the stubborn little motherfuckers they are. YOU WANT FLOWERS? WE GIVE YOU FLOWERS ALL YEAR ROUND.

My strawberry plant, and two new parsley plants waiting to be potted out.

A long view of the rest of the garden: rosemary, spaghetti squash, thyme, chocolate mint (new!), chives, oregano, sage, more oregano. The second oregano I grew from a cutting for someone who never actually claimed it. We've also got a rosemary cutting growing, and I'm doing new oregano and thyme cuttings. Two of my three gentlemanfriends right now would like herbs for their gardens, you see.

And most exciting of all:

A squash flower! Despite NHA having crammed too many plants into one pot, the squash are thriving, trying to take over the world, and producing flowers. Hopefully fruit will eventuate. Even if it doesn't, they're such a lovely shade of green leaves, and I've wanted to have a climbing trellis on the balcony for ages. It looks pretty spectacular from the yard below, too. And every day there's something new to do with the garden, as the squash need adjusting and training to grow around the railings.

We've got a bunch of empty pots right now, and seedlings to plant out in them once we get more potting mix. K and James and I went to the markets yesterday and acquired many plants - parsley and another strawberry for me, chocolate mint and cherry tomatoes for K, and James I can't remember but he's setting about growing food-plants in his backyard.

Then I spent the afternoon emptying dead or diseased plants and soil out of pots. Pretty dull but I swear even just cleaning up soil is good for my sanity. Plants! Dirt! Yay!

Chocolate mint! It's the most good smelling stuff ever! And I bet it would make an interesting mojito or be delicious on cheesecake or in cupcakes or...YUMMY! I had some once, but Oberon ate it (I had it in the kitchen window, along with spicy globe basil and dill, which he ate too).

The squash flower really is a pretty color green. It's a nice garden you've got there!

That chocolate mint is my new best thing ever. We were introduced at a friend's dinner party, and I have been raving about it ever since.

I'm really impressed with your squash plant! Great idea to use the railings for a trellis.
